MAGAZINE ADVERT AND DIGIPAK IDEAS:

Firstly, when considering ideas for our magazine adverts I looked at inspirational artists from similar genres and the formats they used to construct their finalised magazine advert. One band I chose to study a magazine cover of theirs, was Mumford and Sons. This is due to the similar style and mannerisms the band have attained that I aimed to replica when creating an image for the actors of our band.

The magazine cover to the left shows the band looking calm, cool and collective. The location of the mise-en-scene is set in the countryside, which is a well known place for relaxation. Therefore, this shows the artists as casual and laid back individuals.
The contrast of blue sky to green grass is a pleasant combination of colours which sets a positive outlook to the viewers eye.

Therefore, when trying to mimic this idea, we placed our artists in the same formation of background, this being in a corn field juxtaposed to the hills in the background and the blue sky. However, due to the way our artists had been placed in shot, it did not give the feel of 'unity' and almost looked as if the artists had just been placed in front of the corn field, as if they should not actually be there.

Therefore, as a group we came to the decision that we would not use this as our final idea for the reason of it not looking professional enough and up to the standard we wanted this piece of our promotional package to be at.

Therefore, we then considered using a screen shot of our artists from our music video and tweaking the colour scheme in order to turn it into a magazine advert. This is shown of the image above which has been editing using a colour technique called sepia, which has enabled the colouring to turn into an orange style effect, which changes the colouring of the artists skin tone as well as the colouring of their clothing.
On this magazine advert we have also stuck to the colour theme of the colour red. This choice of colouring compliments the tone of colouring selected being sepia.

Therefore, due to complications with the existing ideas for our magazine advert, we then decided that perhaps putting the artist's in front of a monochrome dark contrasted background, this would create the focus exactly on them. This would also stick to the initial idea we had as a group to include a brick wall as a background for the artists, as we planned to set the mise-en-scene within a warehouse.

As a group we then decided to make the colour of the font white due to the contrast on white on black, as this is an effective technique to make the writing stand out from the background. On the front of our magazine advert we also included ratings from other companies similar to ones of the same genre therefore, this made it look believable as to if this was done professionally this method would be used.
